Scuzzy Mountain and Cams Peak

November 08, 2014

Alex, Ben, and I set out to explore some rugged mountains in the Boston Bar area. Our main targets were Scuzzy Peak, a large and prominent summit southwest of Boston Bar, and its neighbor to the west, Cam’s Peak.

We started our approach on the Scuzzy Creek Forest Service Road, then bushwhacked our way up from the south side of Cam’s Peak. Our goal was to reach the west ridge and then make the final push to the summit. The bushwhacking was thick but manageable, and the views kept us motivated.

From Cam’s Peak, we continued by climbing the south ridge of Scuzzy Peak to reach its summit. The terrain was steep but rewarding with great vistas from the top.

For the descent, we took the southeast ridge. What followed was a full-on bushfest back to the car—lots of twisting through dense undergrowth, branches, and occasional scrambles. It was a solid reminder that some of the best adventures are earned by pushing through the rough stuff.

A great day out with good company, challenging terrain, and plenty of wilderness vibes. Looking forward to the next one!
