Tenderfoot Hatchery to Brohm Lake Loop - April 10, 2014

Max and I decided to explore a new trail in Squamish and ran from Tenderfoot Hatchery to Brohm Lake. As with most of Max’s “easy” ideas, it started out with a peaceful vibe, just us, nature, and a winding forest path... until we met the boulders. A lot of boulders. Like nature’s idea of a CrossFit warm-up.

After some nimble(ish) rock hopping, the trail decided it hadn’t challenged us enough and threw in an endless flight of stairs. I’m convinced these stairs were built by a sadistic trail fairy who wanted to test people's resolve (and quad endurance). Step after step after step... it was like a StairMaster that never ends, but with more mosquitoes.

Once we reached Brohm Lake, though, it was worth it. The loop around the lake was scenic and surprisingly runnable, with forested trails, water views, and a breeze that felt like it was apologizing for the earlier vertical punishment.

I’m not gonna lie, my legs are toast. After nearly a full week of running daily with Max (because rest days are a suggestion), today’s run might’ve been the final straw. Currently writing this from the couch, where I’ve become one with the furniture.
