Back to running

Ah, the joy of being back out running again, especially with Max, my ever-reliable trail companion. There's something magical about sharing singletrack with someone who matches your pace and your sarcasm. As for Alexis, he was sorely missed, though his absence was thoroughly justified (he’s reportedly transitioning from peak-bagger to porch-sitter these days 😉).

It wasn’t a huge outing, just a short run, but the elevation gain was surprisingly decent and the trail was smooth, flowy, and runnable. After a week of solo slogs, it felt good to have conversation and camaraderie again, even if most of it involved breathless complaints about hill repeats and wondering how Max still has functioning knees.

Mt. Seymour Shenanigans

Swapped trail shoes for skis and headed up Mt. Seymour with Alex and Adrien for some spring ski touring. Great conditions overall, until, of course, you hit the gauntlet. You know what I’m talking about: the landmine zone of dog poop scattered across the skin track.

Seriously, is there a secret poop summit register these dogs are signing on Hollyburn? It's like the trail is marked by scent and suffering. Either owners are too lazy to scoop or they’re optimistically leaving poop bags behind like some sort of fecal Easter egg hunt they'll definitely never come back for.

I nearly skied over one mid-stride. Nothing like a steamy surprise to get the heart rate up.
