Silverdaisy Mountain and Snass Mountain Loop, Running the historic trail

Wing and I tackled a big 60km loop starting from Sumallo Grove in Manning Park. The route took us up the Silverdaisy Trail; steep, bushy, with plenty of downed trees until we reached the summit via open meadows. From there, we descended to the Claimstake-Silverdaisy saddle and followed an old mining road down to Cayuse Flats.

Next up: Skagit Bluff to Dewdney, then up the steep Whatcom Trail to Punchbowl Pass. We made a side trip up Snass Mountain via its west ridge, hopping over several false summits. The summit had a helipad and repeater, which killed the vibe a bit, so we didn’t stay long.

Originally, we planned a full loop via Punchbowl Lake and Paradise Valley, but due to time constraints, we headed back the same way. Wing and I split near the bottom so I could attempt Mount Ford and Mount Dewdney.

I made it to the Ford-Dewdney saddle, just 1km shy of the summit, but turned around as darkness set in and the terrain got sketchy. Back at the car by 11pm. Long day, great adventure!
