Tetrahedron Traverse

Alexis had this brilliant idea to run a full traverse of Tetrahedron Park, connecting every mountain in the area in a single day. Because, why not?

Our adventure kicked off after climbing Mt. Habrich (because starting easy is for amateurs). We caught the 8pm ferry to the Sunshine Coast, drove to Port Mellon, and camped at the bottom of McNair FSR, because sleeping on rocks totally counts as “roughing it.”

The next morning, bright and early at 8am, we set off running along the deactivated logging road of McNair FSR to McNair Cabin. From there, we followed the trail skirting Chapman Lake, which felt less like a trail and more like a muddy obstacle course, all the way to the junction of Edward Cabin-Mt. Steele.

Then it was on to bagging peaks:

  • Mt. Steele

  • Raven Dance Peak

  • Tetrahedron NW1

  • Tetrahedron Peak

  • Rainy Peak

A casual 43 kilometers and 3500 meters of elevation gain later, we finished the day wondering if we’d accidentally signed up for a Mount Everest marathon. Alexis? Still somehow powered up and ready for more. Me? I’m pretty sure I left a piece of my sanity somewhere on Tetrahedron.
