I drove up Squamish Main FSR and followed the S500 branch until I hit a washout that stopped any further progress by vehicle. From there, I hiked 6 km up the logging road. The road eventually forks—one upper section that’s now heavily overgrown with alders, and a lower road that leads into a cutblock heading north. I took the lower one.
The road ended about 1 km past the fork. From there, I bushwhacked and route-found my way up, staying mostly on the south side of Ring Creek. Eventually, I crossed the creek to reach the base of Ring Mountain.
I aimed directly up the south face, staying close to the pinnacles, which in hindsight, made for too steep of a descent route. The slope was steep and I couldn’t see below me, so I opted to make a loop instead. I wrapped around from the west side of the summit plateau and descended via the east side, which was much more manageable.
At the summit, I found three different summit cairns scattered across the top, classic Ring.
I camped at S400 Branch afterward, getting ready to tackle Blanca Peak the next day.
