Juan De Fuca Run

June 7-8, 2014

We drove to Jordan River and set up camp at China Beach for an early morning start to tackle the Juan De Fuca Trail,a scenic 47km route along the stunning Pacific coastline of the Strait of Juan De Fuca.

Our pace was strong for the first couple of hours, but unfortunately around the 19km mark Max started suffering from a painful cramp. Despite the setback, he pushed through to 29km at Sombrio Beach, where Olesya was there to resupply us with food and water.

By 37km at Parkinson Creek, the cramp got the best of Max, and he had to drop out. With his blessing, I continued on solo and managed to finish the full distance in 5 hours and 52 minutes.

The trail was technical with lots of muddy sections, making it a tough but rewarding run. A true test of endurance and grit along a spectacular coastline.
