Mt. Rethel North Couloir and Parkhurst - November 10, 2012

We’re back together for another great climb to kick off the season, thanks to Adrien’s well-planned weekend trip, perfectly timed to take advantage of a rare weather window.

We set off Friday afternoon and made our way to the cabin, hiking in the dark. The night at the cabin was brutally cold, and despite waking to a sunny morning, the chill still bit through the air.

Adrien’s enthusiasm and energy were contagious, his signature rally cry, “Let’s do it!” set the tone perfectly as we ventured out into the day’s adventure.

We decided to walk along the shore line instead crossing it. Our objective across the lake. The gully we climbed. Pretty steep from this angle

The lake was partially frozen and walking on top of it was pretty scary. After we heard a few cracks , Adrien insisted it's still safe to walk . He took his ice screw out and tested the ice. Hmm, " probably 10cm of ice"..just enough to hold my weight. Partially frozen Wedgemount lake . West end  of the lake

Rope not needed, we both comfortable with the exposure and steepness.

Adrien climbs so fast that I can't barely catch up with him. I'm wondering if he breathes at all.

a lil' bit route finding from the summit down to East ridge. We were looking for the safest route to get back down. We found a short gully, but with a bad runout. I made him to go down first. :)
